The Cambridge Eskimos, the University’s ‘B’ team, were originally formed in the 1920’s along with the Oxford Cosmopolitans. However, during World War II the rivalry was suspended, and upon it’s return the Eskimos were no longer a feature. The team was revived again in 1995.
The Eskimos form the ‘recreational’ side of the club, welcoming both beginner players from the University, members of staff and also one or two players from outside. Despite the recreational status, in recent years the squad has featured some formidable players and has taken on some very strong opposition from both University teams and recreational teams across the country.
Continuing the theme of touring Europe, the Eskimos will usually take at least one trip across the channel onto the continent. Last season they played in a tournament in Linz in Austria; they will be making a return this year.
